Dr. Daniel E. Hogan, Jr. is a board-certified gastroenterologist with a strong background in academic and clinical medicine. Prior to coming to Peak Gastroenterology Associates, he was in practice in Asheville, North Carolina, where he provided comprehensive care in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr. Hogan’s medical journey began at Lenox Hill Hospital - part of the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Health - on the Upper East Side of New York City, where he completed his residency in internal medicine. He stayed at Lenox Hill to complete his fellowship training in gastroenterology, during which he served as a Teaching Associate in the Department of Medicine. He also gained experience as a per diem hospitalist throughout his fellowship years.
Following his fellowship training, Dr. Hogan pursued additional training at Duke University in advanced endoscopic procedures. This focused mainly on endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP, specializing in diseases of the pancreas and hepatobiliary system. While at Duke he served as a Faculty Member and Medical Instructor in the Division of Gastroenterology. In this role, he was actively involved in patient care, medical education, and clinical research.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Hogan has a background in research. Prior to his career in medicine, he worked in orthopedic and developmental biomechanics at Boston University, where his work focused on novel imaging techniques.
